Typically one of the most complex areas of the dissolution process is asset division. I break this process into four steps. First, I discuss with you and determine your future plans and needs. Second, I determine how a court will characterize your property: either as separate or community property. Third, the values of the assets are determined. Fourth, keeping both your needs, desires and the law in mind, the assets are allocated among the parties. This last step can happen either by private agreement, or by a court order.
Whether your matter involves complex trust assets, business partnerships, stock options, or retirement plans, I can effectively represent your interests.
